Wow my parents are not letting me off, and keep pressuring me about joining Prostitution for a career. I have tried explaining to them that Prostitution is nothing short of being lazy and cowardly when looking for a job unless I'm an overseas scholar bonded by them.

They have countered that it is stupid not to accept a $100000 note (assuming it exists) when you find it on your doorstep, and instead go on a quest all over the mountains in order to find a $1000 note. I have explained that we must have dignity and pride in what we do, instead of taking the easy way out of life by taking the path of least resistance and sheltering in the nearest available cesspit. They concluded that I was prideful and arrogant. I said that I despised the MOE teaching credo anyway. They said well, GOOD LUCK, MOE has a shortage of English and Literature teachers, which is your natural talent, but this girl is not being very prudent in her life choices!

This is getting quite frustrating.

Why would I do something that comes easily to me? Nothing in life should be easy, especially for something that you're going to spend the rest of your life doing. That's what makes your life interesting and meaningful. We've got to fight for every moment if it is to mean anything at all.

I suppose Bat is right, it's the old school mentality - teaching is a respectable profession... back then. Not now it ain't. Teachers are overpaid for being underqualified to teach various subjects (like Eng Literature, for starters) and it'll just create a vicious cycle of students growing up having a half-baked (and often erroneous) understanding of the subject, going out to be teachers, and being assigned to teach Eng Lit...

I understand there is a shortage of teachers. BUT at least provide training courses for them in particular specialised subjects before hurling them into the deep end. Do you know how much damage a teacher like that could inflict? Ignorance is dangerous but nothing is deadlier than partial comprehension of an idea.

Other news, module mates are getting excited about Earth Hour 2010, and psychoing everyone to turn up in school in black on friday (which is tomorrow). I think I've held back on this one, but some other guys have politely refused to do so on the grounds that it does absolutely nothing to save the earth. The only way turning up in school en masse in black clothing is going to save the earth in anyway is if
  1. Singapore has a temperate climate, and wearing black will allow the sun's rays to be more easily absorbed by the black, saving on heating bills everywhere
  2. Wearing black automatically realigns your genetic disposition into one where you cut down on electricity usage, recycle all your waste, etc
But since it's not going to accomplish any of that, I really don't know why... Actually I'm kind of curious, why black? Because of the expensive blackout that will fall over the entire city for one entire hour?

Pink and white pansy belted dress that I found today. I have discovered Dorothy Perkins for nice smart pieces for work! I'll go and snap up all the size 8s once I have the time.

Anyway, something I've found online! Emoticons for cats! I find the WTF BITCH really really hilarious.

And one of my favourite written pieces of work to date - a letter found in a toilet in one of the hostels in NUS. It really had me in stitches from start to finish.

It seems the older I get, the more cantankerous I become. I hope by the time I'm 50 I will be a rampaging T-Rex with snakes in my hair and all that.
