I watched the Fantastic Mr. Fox today. It was a really good stop motion animated film! Despite not having all the high-tech 3D animation tools (which is probably why I like it), they managed to come together very nicely. It's a very peculiar film style. And the book-to-screen translation was really good. Then again, Roald Dahl always wrote books that translated very well to screen. Except maybe Matilda.
Towards the end of the movie, I got to thinking about how a real life fox would never be able to escape such a dogged chase by 3 humans wielding powerful technology. Oh well, the dream world of the silver screen. It's like watching Anastasia - the reality is so different, even though we want the movie to have been real.
And I like how they added the bit about Mr. Fox's phobia of wolves. He isn't really afraid of them, he's just never seen one, and he knows they're wilder than he'll ever be, even though he continuously tells himself 'we're wild animals'. At the end of the day, his livelihood is subject to the forces of human-controlled livestock supplies and the small little countryside-animal community that he lives in. Whereas the wolf is free, solitary and has unbridled freedom ie truly 'wild'. It's a nice spin.
SO anyway right after that post about consumerism, I'm going to post some pictures of what I bought recently from VS!
Anyway, it's beginning to look like christmas! ...probably because all the malls are decked out in christmas decorations by November! You can always tell when the economy is really bad. When they decorate more than a month before christmas, the economy is in an awful state. At least they didn't start decorating in April or something.
I'm going to be calling up our Ministry of Manpower tomorrow morning and roast them. Their webpage is seriously bad for anybody with a weak heart and high blood pressure. I tried using their iReport interface to fill up the form for accident reporting last week and I lost my temper. Which is rare. I had to try EIGHT times before I successfully submitted the report. And there were still cockups after the submission.
Their webpage's search engine for corporations does not support Firefox browsers (ie it opens up into a blank). After trying about 3 times I switched to IE.
Whenever I try open a separate tab to navigate a separate part of the webpage, it opens RIGHT ONTO THE FORM I WAS FILLING UP instead of in another window. My data got wiped out 2 times because of this
So after my info got wiped out roughly 5-6 times due to one technological blunder after another, I copied and pasted EVERYTHING I wrote into MS word before submitting which was a good move because...
After I submitted the form, I needed to save the PDF form for my dad to submit to his company, and when I clicked the "save to PDF" button, IE asked me to click the taskbar to allow popups and when I did, EVERYTHING WAS WIPED OUT.
So now I've submitted the form, but thanks to their stupid webpage, I don't have the reference number for the submission, and they do not send out auto-replies to indicate they have received the report, so my dad cannot prove that he's done his task to the company.
Which means I'll have to call them up tomorrow morning to request for the reference number.
I HATE government agencies. So many X-inefficiencies. Just because they've got an 'iron ricebowl' they think they can perform at minimum capacity.
Isn't the government supposed to have better quality website moderators than what these current ones are doing?
I'm slowly discovering Taylor Swift, after having listened to the song being replayed at my gym on loop several times. I'm not really a pop music person, but I thought this one captured the spirit of Romeo & Juliet so well that it's hard not to smile at the music video. And Taylor Swift is beautiful and talented!
We were both young when I first saw you I close my eyes And the flashback starts I'm standing there On a balcony in summer air
See the lights See the party, the ball gowns I see you make your way through the crowd And say hello, little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles And my daddy said stay away from Juliet And I was crying on the staircase Begging you please don't go, and I said
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story baby just say yes
So I sneak out to the garden to see you We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew So close your eyes Escape this town for a little while
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter And my daddy said stay away from Juliet But you were everything to me I was begging you please don't go and I said
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story baby just say yes
Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel This love is difficult, but it's real Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess It's a love story baby just say yes Oh oh
I got tired of waiting Wondering if you were ever coming around My faith in you is fading When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said
Romeo save me I've been feeling so alone I keep waiting for you but you never come Is this in my head? I don't know what to think He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
And said, marry me Juliet You'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress It's a love story baby just say yes
Oh, oh, oh, oh 'Cause we were both young when I first saw you
